Otto's Army was created in 2006 by a group of students who simply loved Syracuse University sports. The group identified a need for some organization surrounding the student basketball section and decided to take the lead on creating the foundation for the rules we have today. 

 

Throughout the years, Otto's Army has been seated alongside various Syracuse University sports teams, cheering them on through wins and losses. Whether is be the biggest basketball game of the year or an exhibition soccer game, Otto's Army is always there to support the athletes that work so hard to bring national attention to the school through sport. 

 

From the unique roots that a few students established outside Gate E of the Carrier Dome to today, Otto's Army has become recognized as the official student section for Syracuse University Athletics.

 

Some of the group's functions include:

 

• Bi-weekly meetings to discuss improvement of student section operations

• Promotion of Syracuse University sporting events

• Bus trips to away games to suppor the Orange on the road

• Organizing events to raise money for the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation

• Improve communication between athletic department and students

• Ensure the Syracuse University community bleeds Orange
